First communication issue I remember was WI-FI connection on my BlackBerry Bold 9700 . I encountered a great problem because I was afraid I will not be able to browse the web without using solely WI-FI connection . I started immediate web search and I found the answers but it tooked me some time and efforts . Now I want to show you how easily is that and to answer the main question regarding this topic . Yes you can use WI-FI on your BlackBerry without affecting the data plan . The settings I’m about to explain in pictures because I found it more easy to understand than words .

First you have to turn your WI-FI on. Go to manage Connections and mark W-FI . Than go to Set up WI-FI Connection and Scan For Networks. This is the list of networks my BlackBerry found at the time of writing this hub page:

As you see im connected to STORM , that’s my home WI-FI spot .Unfortunately that’s not all . Now you have to set your Data services to ON :

Once this is Set the last thing you have to set is the Browser Options. Go to your Settings – Advanced settings and click Browser . Than set your Default browser configuration to Hotspot Bowser and save your settings :

This is the total process, but before start using only WI-FI on your BlackBerry you have to be convinced about the WI-FI icon color. It have to be white, not grey. The second thing is the tick below your Mobile Network tick . The WI-FI tick has to be green . Initially it’s a white dash ,  when you’re  WI-FI ready to go it transforms in to green tick .
